ACS Oregon Councilors and Members:

Join us February 12-13, 2012 for our Winter Council Meeting and ACS Day at the Capitol at the Salem Conference Center.  This information-packed event is designed to build your knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for legislative advocacy. All members are invited to dinner on Sunday and to our advocacy training sessions on Monday morning. We have exciting news to share, Oregon ACS has received a significant grant from the American College of Surgeons for our Day at the Capitol.

Sunday, February 12 - Salem Conference Center

1 - 5 pm Council Meeting
5 - 6 pm Social hour
6 - 8 pm Dinner, Guest speakers invited (to be confirmed): Senator Jackie Winters, Rep. Tim Freeman, Co-Chair of the Oregon State House of Representatives Health Care Transformation Committee.

Monday, February 13 - Salem Conference Center

8 - 9 am: Senator Alan Bates will present on the specific health care bills under consideration in this session including HB 3650 (Healthcare Transformation) and/or SB 99 (Oregon Health Insurance Exchange). He will address why we should support them in preparation for meeting with legislators/aides later in the day. Also, a representative of OMA's government affiars team will present.  

10 - 11 am: Updates on state and federal issues, advocacy training, Charlotte Grill, ACS State Advocacy Specialist
Afternoon: Appointments with state legislators, State Capitol

Cost:

Sunday dinner - $25 ACS members and guests (ACS councilors free)
Monday sessions - Free to all members
